Hojicha Roasted Green Tea, Organic
Hojicha Roasted Green Tea, Organic
Hojicha roasted green tea is a sencha green tea that has been further pan-roasted to enhance the aroma and flavor. Haiku teas are harvested in early summer, the hojicha leaves and small twigs are steamed and roasted in revolving ovens with the aid of volcanic sand for slow, even roasting. The sand is later removed resulting in a tea with a rich, sweet, nutty, smoky flavor.
Hojicha Roasted Green Tea Features:
- Caffeine Content: Made from larger, older leaves and small twigs of the tea bush resulting in a lower caffeine content than un-roasted sencha green tea.
- Color & Flavor: Brown roasted leaves with rich, nutty undertones and a smooth roasted cocoa flavor without bitterness.
- Packaging: Our tea bags are compostable, unbleached, using non-GMO fibers. Boxes are made from 100% recycled paper board printed with vegetable-based ink.
Prepare Hot: Bring one cup of cold water to a boil. Steep the desired amount of tea for five minutes or until the desired strength is achieved.
Prepare Cold*: Pour one cup of cold water over tea leaves and steep in the refrigerator overnight. Cold brewing reduces caffeine content and leaves a smooth, less bitter aftertaste.
* When prepare cold, caffeine content and bitterness are both reduced.
